| The British Virgin Islands are a stunningly beautiful collection of 50 or so islands, islets and cays in the blue Caribbean. Most are mountainous and steep-sided, some are rocky, and all are fringed with numerous white-sand, crescent-shaped beaches. Except for the far-flung coral atoll of Anegada, all are close together and volcanic in origin. Although near to the US Virgin Islands the atmosphere of BVI is totally different as the entire population numbers only 18,000 people. In the BVI you can enjoy deserted, dazzling, white sand beaches, drive or hike to spectacular mountaintop vistas, swim, snorkel, and dive in astonishingly clear, calm water, horseback ride, sail in protected waters, go deep sea fishing, windsurf, read or finally get that certification you have always dreamed about. The resort runs from $25,000 per day for the entire island of Little Thatch to our favorite, Sandcastle situated on White Bay beach on Jost Van Dyke, home of the world famous “Soggy Dollar Bar” tended by the legendary “KC”. The winter rate for Sandcastle is a modest $200.00 per night per couple and packages can include meals in the gourmet restaurant. |
