The Incas, who did not use the wheel, designed an incredible network of paths extending over 30,000 kilometers, crossing Peru in all directions-to Bolivia and northern Chile in the south, and Ecuador and southern Columbia in the north. One of the sections still in existence is the Inca Trail, which leads to Machu-Picchu and has become famous because of this prestigious site.

Our last campsite at 10,000 feet was above the Inca city of Phyyupatamarca “City on the Clouds” and was a spectacular setting. As you can see from the pictures we were truly above the clouds, a perfect way to end our camping experience.
